​​SACHHI WOMEN - Skills-Build-Empower is a 501(c)3 pending non-profit to begin the two twenty-week training sessions from August 5, 2025, through December 18, 2025.

SACHHI WOMEN Home Improvements is very proud to provide a non-profit extension of its company through a paid training program for women in recovery, and women with disabilities seeking careers within the home improvement trades, as well as in the sewing and fashion design industry.   

Our mission is also to provide employment and a safe working and fun environment for women already professionally skilled in the home improvement and construction trade industry ​, while ensuring the security and confidence of new hires and training participants as they become highly qualified in both trade industries.

 

The program's itinerary for the upcoming fall session is to first provide twenty (20) training participants with standard procedures in safety, company history and policies, training requirements, responsibilities, setting goals and meeting deadlines, classroom learning, and contributions.

Trainees will be briefed on best practices, the company dress code, manners, etiquette, personal hygiene, and language requirements.  They will also be trained in emergency and lifesaving procedures, including CPR and Heimlich maneuvers for children, pets, and adults.

 

HOME IMPROVEMENTS

The home improvement training program will include knowledge of tape measurements, square and linear feet measurements, learning the proper terminology of the trades, interior/exterior painting materials, primers, and stains, process and application, types of wood, wood replacement-installation, and carpentry procedures, door and hardware installation, installation of crown, baseboard, shoe and door trim molding, cabinet refacing/repair, drywall repair, hanging, floating, taping, and finishing.  Other training areas of concentration will include ceiling popcorn removal and finish, all types of floor prep and flooring installation, closet and wall shelf hanging, window and porch screening, installing doorknobs and hardware, and procedures for weatherizing and insulating an entire home. 

 

SEWING & FASHION DESIGN

The sewing and fashion design training program will include learning sewing machine and serger parts terminology, machine types and operations, fabric types, hand and machine sewing knowledge, notions, facings, trim, threads, and finishes. working with types of zippers, iron and steamer operations, learning all forms of garment patterns, choosing the correct fabric per pattern, learning threads and needles, choosing correct linings for fabrics, learning draping techniques. 

Trainees will be able to perfect their sewing skills making Bino bags, robes, and performing various alterations for Sachhi Design & Couture clients. 

Each trainee will be required to make, design and complete one garment that will be presented at the SACHHI WOMEN Thunder Over Louisville Fashion Show in Louisville KY on

April 17, 2026.

The financial needs for these programs are as follows:

Financial stipends per 20 trainees for 20-week program -      $3,000 per person

Home Improvement trainees will provide 4 weeks of hands-on home improvement services for a group of veteran and senior homeowners toward the end of their program.

Participants who complete the program will receive certifications within the field for which training is provided, and the opportunity for full-time employment with

SACHHI WOMEN Home Improvement LLC and SACHHI Design & Couture.

​​Our owner and Executive Director, Denise Sparks, is a true inspiration. She co-founded Sparks A.C.- Heat & Home Improvements in Charlotte, NC, 1999 and is certified in HVAC-R with hands-on skills in residential home repair, commercial upfit, and fire damage restoration.   Her community service and philanthropy have been recognized with the Business Achievement Award by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club - Charlotte, was named Woman of the Year by the American Businesswomen's Association - Charlotte Chapter and was called Charlotte's Designing Woman by the Charlotte Post Newspaper.

For over twenty-five years, Denise Sparks has trained hundreds of women and men within the home improvement industry.
