Sparks A/C-Heat & Home Improvements (SACHHI) is proud to provide a non-profit extension of its company called SACHHI WOMEN Skills Build Empower, through a training program created for women in recovery, women with disabilities, and women re-entering society seeking careers within the home improvement trade and sewing design industry.   

Our mission is to also provide a safe, fun working environment for women with  experience in the home improvement and construction trade industries, while ensuring the security and confidence of new hires and training participants as they become qualified to become full-time employees at SACHHI WOMEN Home Improvements or SACHHI Design & Couture.

Our two twenty-week training programs will begin in September 2026 and run through January 2027.

 

HOME IMPROVEMENTS

The home improvement session of this program will include trainees learning safety, trade terminology, trade math, and core hands-on fundamental skills in exterior/interior painting, wood replacement/installation, drywall installation and repair, ceramic tiling, and bathtub to walk-in shower conversions.

SEWING & FASHION DESIGN

The sewing and design side of the training program will include trainees learning machine and serger operations, sewing terminology, textiles, and hand and machine sewing. 

Trainees will learn sewing, tailoring​, and design for creating products and garments for SACHHI Design & Couture clients.

​​SACHHI WOMEN Skills - Build - Empower is seeking financial sponsors, in-kind sponsors, Crowdfunding partners, and donations to accommodate 50 local women in the Fall 20-week home improvement and/or sewing and design training programs. 

Training Days:  Tues. - Thurs.     Time:  8 am - 3 pm

​Toward the end of the home improvement segment of the training program, our trainees will spend 4 weeks providing the home improvement skills they have learned to support community services for local and regional veterans, disabled, and elderly homeowners. 

Training participants who complete the programs will be afforded the opportunity for full-time employment with

SACHHI WOMEN Home Improvements or SACHHI Design & Couture.

 Executive Director Denise Sparks' vision has come to fruition.  She is

 certified in HVAC-R with hands-on skills in numerous phases of residential home repair, commercial up-fit, fire, and water damage restoration.  

For over twenty-five years, Denise Sparks has trained and supervised hundreds of women and men within the home improvement and fashion design industries. 

​

Her community service and philanthropy are recognized through a Proclamation from the City of Louisville, KY.  She received a Business Achievement Award from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club-Charlotte. She provided training and employment to many women in recovery at The Healing Place Women's Center in Louisville, KY.  Denise was named Woman of the Year by the American Businesswomen's Association - Charlotte Chapter and was called Charlotte's Designing Woman by the Charlotte Post Newspaper. 

Denise Sparks was the contractor for the Revive Columbia staff team of

HGTV's "Flip This House." 

Her SACHHI Couture fashion design collections have been showcased at New York Fashion Week, Super Bowl Fashion Week, and her celebrity clients have walked the Red Carpets at the Grammy and Emmy Awards in her SACHHI Design & Couture designs. 

Denise is also the Executive Director and founder of Derby City Fashion Week, a four day fashion event that was created to provide a professional fashion platform for all those who are aspiring in all phases of the fashion industry, and in doing so, her hometown of Louisville KY is  illuminated and globally recognized among fashion week events around the world.
